You don’t need to take time off work or plan your holiday for months. Some great adventures don’t require you to hop on the plane, train or even a car.
I am quite lucky living in Hertfordshire, England –landscapes here are simply beautiful. Few recent weekends we have been walking by the river exploring local area and nearby towns.
A short 2.8 mile walk by the river was a great way to spend Sunday morning. The walk is easy with beautiful views along the route. We have met few runners, dogs and even a horse on the way.
Ware- Stanstead Abbotts
Even shorter -2.5 mile walk along the river Lee. This part of the river is a bit busier, but there is a bird sanctuary on the way, which is a great place to stop and try to spot as many different birds as you can.
- Appropriate clothing- make sure that you are dressed for the weather, you need to feel comfortable to fully enjoy the walk.
- Have a goal at the end of the walk. We had breakfast/lunch at the end of both walks.
- Take a friend or a partner with you, it is a perfect time for you two to talk/discuss/get to know each other better with no interruptions.
- Take a moment, close your eyes and listen. The sound of a river flow & birds singing makes you feel like you’re somewhere far away from the city, somewhere in the middle of the forest where no other human exists.
